Gwyneth Paltrow, 44, always has tons of great advice about everything from which golden dildo to buy to decorations for your home library on Goop.com, but she took a sexy turn on March 23 when she invited Paul Joannides, Psy.D to chat about something pretty risque: backdoor sex!

“If anal turns you on, you are definitely not alone,” said Gwyneth, explaining that the taboo sex act now seems to be “practically standard in the modern bedroom repertoire.” However, she wanted to dive deeper and learn about the history of the act and tips for safe and pleasurable anal intercourse.

First of all, the doc made it clear that it’s important for a couple to be really open, honest, and trusting to enjoy this kind of sex, so it’s not for everyone. “Couples who do not have excellent sexual communication, who don’t freely give and receive feedback about what feels good and what doesn’t, and who don’t have a high level of trust should not be having anal sex.”

We support anyone doing anything they want in the bedroom, since no woman should feel ashamed of her sexuality. However, we love that Gwyneth stresses that it’s important to practice safe sex no matter what kind you’re doing, especially anal since it’s “the riskiest” act, according to Dr. Joannides.

He warns to make sure your partner is “wearing a condom and using lots of lube, unless both of you are true-blue monogamous, with no sexual diseases.” Very good advice! Stick with that, and get to freakin’!
