Pita Taufatofua of Tonga – The Olympics
Perhaps one of the most incredible, international sporting events to ever exist is the legendary Olympic games. The ultimate spectator event, the games date back to ancient Greece, and have been held near and dear to our hearts all over the world for generations. From the winter events including ice hockey and skiing, to the summer games including gymnastics, swimming and many more, there is no greater excitement than leading up to the two-week global sporting competition.
In 2018, the winter games took place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where countries all over the world brought their finest athletes to represent. Even the smaller teams went unnoticed, like the lone athlete Pita Taufatofua of Tonga, as he waves at the camera in this photo during the closing ceremony. Pita waved the flagpole at the previous Olympics in 2016, and he went on to become the first athlete from Tonga to compete in taekwondo. Click for more pics of this athletic star!
